Last, First Name
This calculated column uses a SharePoint formula to format a name as Last, First so it sorts correctly. Because it lives in a calculated column, SharePoint fills the value in for every item automatically - no custom development and nothing for your users to type.
How It Works
- What it does: Formats a name as Last, First so it sorts by last name.
- What you get: One value – Jane and Smith show Smith, Jane.
- If a value is missing: If one name is blank, you get just the other with a stray comma, not an error.
